Quilting Books with patterns that I have made and can recommend:

Strip Pieced Quilts: Easy Designs from Just Six Fabrics

My favorite strip-pieced pattern is inspired by ‘Breaking Out’. I set the blocks square, not on point, and leave out the flange and call it a ‘Split Rail Fence’. It’s fast and looks great in batiks or prints–very versatile.

In the Gallery of Quilts, ‘Another Glass of Wine’ and ‘Monsoon Sunset’ are made according to the original directions in the book.

Free Expression: The Art and Confessions of a Contemporary Quilter

By Robbi Joy Eklow, this book is a delight to peruse.  For Christmas 2009, my daughters and I made two of the pattern called ‘Guitar Trio’.   I never thought I would make an appliqued quilt but this pattern was irresistible.  And surprisingly easy to do.

We created the borders to resemble piano keys to extend the musical theme as well as the size of the quilts.

French Braid Quilts: 14 Quick Quilts with Dramatic Results

The ‘Rain Forest’ quilt in the Gallery of Quilts is made according to the pattern ‘Lava Lamp’ in this book by Jane Hardy Miller.  Wow, are these quilts gorgeous and fun to make.

Strip Tubing: Fast and Fabulous Quilts using the Strip Tube Ruler(tm)

A great way to use up some of your stash.  The variety of fabrics in the strips makes for delightful surprises in these patterns by Daniela Stout and Georgette Dell’Orco.

The ‘Just Too Easy’ pattern was followed to make ‘Windy Day at the Lake’.

Stack-n-Whackier Quilts (Another Magic Stack-n-Whack(tm) Book)

For the ’Golden Christmas’ Wall Hanging in the Gallery, I used Christmas fabrics and the ‘Argyle Diamonds’ pattern from this book by Bethany S. Reynolds.

Better Together: Two-Block Designs for Dynamic Quilts

I changed the ’Circles, Stars and Medallions’ pattern slightly to make ‘Ducks’ in the Gallery.
